Welcome to Karschner & Co., where we love to play and are just a tiny bit crunchy.
I’m April, wife to Adam, and together we have 6 sweet babies. Lincoln is 10 years old, Quinn is 9 years old, Londyn is 7 years old, twins Kase and Lennox (Knox) are 5 years old, and Tenley is 9 months old. Our family is a unique mix of so much, but this is us.
In June of 2019, I made the radical decision to sell 95% of our kids toys and start fresh with a new philosophy of play. Experience had taught me that my kids played better when they could build, create, and use their imaginations; and I was tired of hearing “I’m bored” when there was literally a playroom full of toys waiting for them upstairs. So I started researching and fell down the rabbit hole of wooden toys, open-ended play, Motessori, Waldorf, and Reggio Emilia philosophies.
With the money from the toys we sold, I began to redesign our playroom and toy collection with a new outlook on play. What you’ll find here is information about how I got started, what toys I would recommend, where you can find things from our playroom, and other information I found beneficial during our transition; and because holistic living is such a normal part of our everyday lives, you’ll probably see a little bit of that thrown in as well.
